Possible BMW i1

BMW hasn't said anything yet, but there are rumors from Spain of an all electric i1 and it could sit on the same platform as the Mini Cooper Electric. The nameplate has already been trademarked by BMW, so I suppose it was only a matter of time until an actual model came from it.

Price is the main thing these days, it means everything with the EV segment so much that there's a race to offer cheaper products. BMW can sell a lot of these not only to the average consumer but also for fleet managers.

Considering this model starts at 21,625, its probably a safe bet than the EV variant will start closer to $30k. That should put it in line with the base model Bolt and Leaf. I have a feeling that BMW is still going to try and sell the Mini EV as a premium model, which I think is a mistake.

Hopefully the electrification of the 1 series means that we may finally see it in North America. I know there were rumours that we would see this model by 2019, so that timing may just work out.
