BMW plug-in EV sales drop 15% in June

June was definitely a rough month for BMW's electric vehicles.

Despite increasing its overall car sales, plug-in vehicle sales were 15% lower than a year ago (11,684). Their plug-in share out of overall volume decreased to 4.9%.

InsideEVs put together some great graphs tracking BMW's EV sales.

They also say that despite the overall sales decrease, there were some bright spots for BMW.

Quote:
Here are few positive highlights provided by BMW:
  1. BMW i3 sales increased in H1 by 21.2% year-over-year
  2. BMW i (i3 and i8) sales increased in H1 by 22% year-over-year
  3. BMW 530e iPerformance increased in H1 by 43.4% year-over-year
  4. MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 sales increased in H1 by 55.8% year-over-year
Hopefully with a CEO at the helm for BMW they can turn around their EV sales and bring them back up where they used to be. Otherwise the competition is going to continue to pull away from them.
